One hot summer day, heavily pregnant Julie disappears from her apartment. She wakes up in a drab basement, furnished with items she bought for her baby. Her captor is a man she has never seen before. Or is she mistaken?

Soon the police suspect her boyfriend Tom of murdering his pregnant girlfriend. But a young journalist establishes a link to Julie's past. His investigation leads him to Oscar Plessers, a boy who was hopelessly in love with her as a teenager. After a tragedy in which Oscar narrowly escaped death, Julie has lost track of him.
