Somewhere in a provincial town is a shopping street with cozy stores flanked by two department stores. In the middle of this street is a very special coffee shop. Latteratura and the building in which it is housed is owned by Jasmine. She has two great passions: books and coffee and she has brought them together in this building. You can just pop in here for a cup of special coffee with a piece of homemade pastry, but you can also spend a few cozy hours here in the reading corner. In fact, Jasmijn has buried the side wall with shelves with all kinds of books that you, the customer, can just read. You can find just about anything: feel-good novels, thrillers, collections of short stories but also timeless books from your childhood. It started with her own books but gradually her regular customers started donating books and the shelves became completely filled.
Jasmijn does not run the business alone. Thomas is her resident barista. He knows all about the coffees on offer and is even thinking about giving workshops on coffee. In addition to being a barista, Thomas is also the baker on duty. He makes cream puffs, cakes, pastries and cakes that it is a joy to make. And then we have Maris. Originally she jumped in during the vacations, but after graduating from college, she decided to continue working in the business because she enjoyed it way too much.
There are also the regulars, such as Mr. Oldman and Mrs. Snelders. And, of course, there is Toulouse, Jasmine's cat who occasionally gets her owner into trouble.
Cappuccino & Cupcakes is a collection of short stories about things experienced by the people associated with this coffee shop. Sometimes exciting, sometimes cute but always special.
