One evening in the spring of 1943, a German army truck suddenly stops in Klaas Nieboer's street. German soldiers get out and arrest a man. He turns out to be a member of the resistance, just like Klaas' father. Thirteen-year-old Klaas also occasionally smuggles coupon cards for the resistance. When his father is unexpectedly arrested for illegal slaughter, things go wrong.

At school, Klaas scolds the history teacher for dirty NSB and has to report to the principal. He is kicked out of school, but finds under his pillow a bill from his father with an important assignment. In their resistance group is a traitor. Klaas must track him down and eliminate him or as soon as possible before any more members are arrested.
