During a traffic check, the dead body of a young woman is found in the trunk of Alex Haentjes. The driver is immediately apprehended. Is it his first murder or are we dealing with a serial killer?

A number of cold cases will be re-examined, but Alex H. is willing to cooperate only under strange conditions. For example, he wants to tell his life story only in a biography and appoints himself the author charged with that task.

The chosen biographer, Bernard De Paepe, turns out to be a jaded journalist/author, not at all set up with the assignment. Why was he chosen and how should he handle it? What lies behind this strange request?
