Hell City
A young woman awakens in an eternally burning city where she must fight monsters.

Make every moment count.
Sam and Jasper have been heart friends since a childhood tragedy brought them together. The two believe they have all the time in the world to achieve their goals. Their lives are brutally disrupted when they learn that Jasper is terminally ill due to a tumor in his heart.Â
The prospect of saying goodbye to each other forever hits the two hard. With only days left to live, Jasper is determined to make the most of the short time he has left. He begs Sam to grant his last wish, to sing once in front of an audience.Â
The broken friends leave behind everything they know to achieve the impossible, while simultaneously struggling with their grief, loss and inevitable goodbyes.

Happiness and sadness go hand in hand
A carefully constructed novel in which the young characters face choices they should have faced entirely. The resilience and perseverance is respectable. An impressive story, in which happiness and sadness go hand in hand.
Heart Beat is a thick pill of nearly 500 pages. But it is 500 pages full of suspense, emotion, love, sadness, anger, uncertainty and hope. I started reading this book on the train and was just sad to get to my destination after an hour. I wanted to know how Jasper got through his final days. I wanted to know when the goodbye was going to come. And what an unexpected and beautiful farewell it was.
Really, Joanne. I am hung over by this book. But how wonderful it is.
You just get sucked into the way Sam and Jasper deal with the drama and keep pulling each other up.
One big message I learned from this book: Live your dreams now and don't wait until tomorrow. We have all lost someone to an illness, or are going through it up close, just like the author. Those feelings and emotions are perfectly incorporated into this wonderful story.
