Meet
Lara Reims
Young Adult and Youth Books author
Lara Reims writes overlooking Bucharest, where she went to live in 2019. Before that, she lived in Paris for many years. Ten years ago she moved from Amsterdam to France and then so to Romania, where she now lives, reads and writes.
As a child, she most wanted to live in a library. Sometimes she would sit quietly in a corner, hidden behind a book, until closing time, hoping they would forget about her so she could spend the night with all the stories around her.
Lara's love for children's books began with Abeltje, Ronja, the books of Tonke Dragt, J.K. Rowling and Philip Pullman. She is fascinated by the lightning-fast developments in technology that will radically change our lives in the short and long term. What all these changes are doing to human beings is the subject of her debut, in which the main character faces a world that seems unlikely, but is closer than you think.
Lara's debut Upgrade immediately caught the eye of the Young Jury. She was nominated for the debut award, which will be presented in June 2020. Her trilogy will be completed in March. She is currently working on her first children's book and a new Young Adult. Lara selflessly collaborated on Homeless.
