My Truth

Thriller - Two friends. A bride who dies. Two versions of the story. One unreliable narrator. Who do you believe? Nathan or Elias? The reader gets to decide which version he chooses to read first. Nathan, who claims that his best friend Elias murdered his own bride? Or Elias, who claims that Nathan is hallucinating and that he is innocent. In the end, the truth is - literally- hidden in the middle of the book.

A story that will make you paranoid!

Lost

Thriller - Jim Vermeersch leads the perfect life. Happily married to Iris, father of teenage son Vince, owner of a renowned London Patisserie. Life couldn't get any better than that. Until he wakes up in his childhood home and loses all the memories of the past two years. Everything he has ever known is gone, including his wife, son and business. As he unravels the secrets of the past two years, Jim begins to wonder more and more if he is really the man he always thought he was. And then there is that one question: who is the woman who always pops up in his memories, a woman no one else seems to know?

One roller coaster after another passes by, and I would advise you not to enter this rollercoaster if you do not like a wild ride.

The Hotel on the Rock

The Hotel series - Youth - Hella goes on vacation with her little brother and parents, but on the way, they are caught in a storm. Fortunately, there is a hotel nearby: The Rock Hotel. Apparently, there are other families stranded at the hotel. Everything seems normal until the hotel comes loose from the ground and shoots into the air. And then all the parents just disappear too. A scary hotel receptionist appears and says, "The game can begin." But what are the rules? The children soon find themselves in all sorts of dangerous situations, facing their fears.

The book is exciting and creepy, but at the same time the author has a clear message. The children learn to think about themselves and how they behave, they learn to deal with their fears and support each other.

Mel Hartman's smooth and powerful and sometimes cinematic writing style was also well reflected in this story. The story is very exciting and is also full of fantasy, humour and touching moments.

The Dark School

Youth - Welcome to Crow Village, where magic rules and strange things happen. It all started with the sudden appearance of The Dark School, after a great storm, but the story continues after that in five suspenseful books that together form one storyline.

The Dark School is a delightful children's book with the necessary touch of magic. The story is smoothly written, has several unexpected plot twists that give the story the suspense it needs.

The Abandoned House

Youth - Welcome to Crow Village, where magic rules and strange things happen. It all started with the sudden appearance of The Dark School, after a great storm, but the story continues after that in five suspenseful books that together form one storyline.

Once again, Sandra J. Paul wrote this book with the help of her children. I really like the idea of this and it really brings the children's fantasy to life.

The Fake Vampire

Youth - Vladimir isn't just a vampire. He is called the fake vampire, due to his inability to digest and live off blood. Feeling an outcast, he decides to leave his village, until he hears of a threat that endangers his friends and family.

I don't normally like books about vampires, but for Vladimir by Rotenbeck, I gladly make an exception. What a delightful, original and fun story!

A Curse of Crows

A female villain origin story, encompassed by rich new mythology and set in a fantasy world fans of Sarah J. Maas will devour.

By letting enough exciting and magical moments seep through the extensive world, and character building, it was not difficult, even in the build-up phase, to let the story take you along.

This book has the suspense I was looking for! I stopped reading a few times because I was afraid I wouldn't dare walk through the dark otherwise, which is a good sign!

About us

A few years ago we, Sandra Vets and Cathy Carlier, had a dream. Sandra has been writing and publishing books herself for years. She is a creative at heart, just like Cathy, with whom she started a business years ago.

The dream of turning our passion for books into our profession came true in the summer of 2018, and thus Hamley Books was born. This name was not chosen at random. We named our publishing house after our quirky jet-black cat.  And we just love cats a lot.

In 2021, Melissa Vandeputte joined our team. She is responsible for the foreign rights and makes sure the books travel the world. Thus far many book rights have been sold to different countries.
